If you bring the love and passion, we can help you build upon and channel it into unique works of art. We have only one purpose… to give you the best instruction in the makeup arts. Students learn everything from the basics to specialty applications to special effects creations. Everything is taught from the ground up, no skipping steps and no cutting corners.

Our instructors have been on the popular television show FACE/OFF and have even gone on to win! They are some of the world’s best and we are very lucky to have them as part of the EI team. The instructors are much more than teachers. They help you to grow your creativity and find inspiration for your creations.

For more information on attending EI, School of Professional Makeup, or to see if you qualify for Financial Aid, please call (323) 871-8318.

We will be hosting a makeup school open house event on December 5, 2015. This event is open to anyone who is interested in attending makeup school or if you just love makeup. Bring your friends and family for some fun and refreshments!

There will be demonstrations of various makeup techniques, looks and styles that you can watch and ask questions about. You are also welcome to take a tour of our campus and explore the environment. Our tour will give you an idea of what it’s like to be a student at our makeup school, so you can get a feeling of the actual experience.

In addition, you can speak with our teachers to better understand what we have to offer our students. Our teachers are highly trained professional makeup artists that are forerunners in the industry.

What we teach our students here at EI is different from most other makeup schools. We don’t just teach you basic makeup application for weddings or red carpet events. We teach you everything there is to know about makeup and the makeup industry itself.

If you’re the type who loves special effects makeup creations then we can help guide you on your way to an exciting, lucrative and creative career as a professional special effects makeup artist. You will learn to create mask molds, scars, wounds, broken limbs, animal skins and, of course, fantastical creatures.

Furthermore, students also learn about the makeup industry, how it works and how to manage their careers. Because we teach students about the business end of the makeup industry, it gives them a head start for negotiating their time, creativity and pay.

EI is one of only a handful of makeup schools that offers their students government funded Financial Aid if they qualify for it. In order for us to be able to offer Financial Aid we must adhere to strict guidelines that ensures that students are receiving a quality education in the makeup arts.

Remember to join us on Saturday, December 5, 2015 for our makeup school open house event and have some fun!

Here we have put together a small collection of Special Effects Makeup Tutorials from YouTube. We’ve included a nice variety to give everyone a broader view of what amazing things you can achieve with Special Effects Makeup.

Aging: This is one of the staple Special Effects Makeup looks and should definitely be mastered by anyone who wants to shine as a makeup artist. Aging characters can usually be accomplished using only makeup and without a prosthetic appliance.

Fantasy: Who doesn’t love a good fantasy character? This is where a makeup artist can really shine by showing off their creativity. Skill and training are one thing (actually two, but who’s counting) and creative ability is something else. Fantasy special effects makeup is the probably the grand cup winner of all the special effects makeup looks. There is no right, there is no wrong… only your imagination.

Characters: Recreating famous and prominent special effects characters can be both challenging and fun! Many makeup artists start out by mimicking the work of famous artists to improve their skills. The challenge lies in doing your best to copy the character exactly as the original and can be frustrating. Do not fret! It takes a lot of experience to compete with the seasoned professionals and everyone has their own unique style.
