Flawless makeup looks only come with a good skincare routine and should be at the top of everyone’s list. Ever wonder how celebrities manage to always look amazing no matter how old they are or how bad their day was? Many people believe that it’s the result of expensive cosmetic surgery or procedures that only the super wealthy can afford. While this may be true in some cases, there are plenty of celebrities and non-celebrities with amazingly flawless skin despite how old they are. The key to having perfect skin and a glowing complexion is rather simple once you figure out what works for you.

The first thing to do is to determine whether you have normal, combination, dry, oily, or acne prone skin. Choose your face cleanser according to your needs and your budget. Just because a product may cost more it doesn’t mean that it’s superior to those that cost less. Every individual requires a customized skincare routine and not the latest skincare system. Not to say that some of these skincare systems aren’t perfect for the right individual. You should just keep your options open to using different skincare products for your routine. It may take some experimenting to find the right cleanser, whether it’s a foam, gel, soap or cream one. Typically, foaming and sudsy cleansers are harsher on your skin and are best suited for those with oily skin and definitely not for those with very dry or flaky skin. For those with dry skin, choose a non-foaming, non-sudsy cream cleanser to remove debris and cleanse your skin without stripping away moisture.
Many people use toner or astringent on their face after cleansing, however it isn’t always necessary. If you have dry skin then you may want to skip the toner to avoid further dryness. If you feel that you want or need to use toner then use one geared towards sensitive or dry skin. Witch hazel is a great alternative to store bought toners because its ph level is very similar to your skin.
Almost all women apply some type of moisturizer either at night before bed, in the morning before makeup or both. In fact it isn’t just women who are moisturizing; there are plenty of men who adhere to a skincare routine as well. Just about everyone should use some type of lotion or cream every day to help protect the skin from the elements whether it’s summer or winter. It’s also a good idea to use 2 different moisturizers, one for day and one for night. Your day moisturizer should contain an SPF 15 or higher to protect you from the sun’s harmful rays year round. Depending on the weather you may want to use a lighter formula during the summer and a heavier cream in the winter. You may also want to consider whether you are using air conditioning at night during the summer because it can cause you to have drier skin.
No matter what brand or type of skincare products you decide on for your skincare routine just remember to reevaluate your skin every so often because its condition changes as we get older. This will help you to use the right product for your skin and keep you looking your best all of the time.
